Mitigating circumstances

If you are applying for mitigating circumstances for assessments due on or after 24 July 2021, you will need to provide evidence to support your claim (see note on Postgraduate Dissertations/Projects below).

You will not be able to claim retrospective mitigation for assessments due on or after 24 July 2021. This also applies to reassessment taking place on or after 24 July 2021 (see note on Postgraduate Dissertations/Projects below).

Please talk to your personal tutor, course leader or to the Union of Kingston Students if you need any advice or support.

Postgraduate dissertations

  • Postgraduate students who have begun their dissertation modules before 23 July 2021 and who are due to submit by September 2021 will not be required to provide evidence for mitigation for the dissertation module only.
  • Where there have been early elements of assessment in a dissertation (e.g. a project proposal element), with a deadline before the 23 July 2021, students can apply for retrospective mitigation in these elements only. There will be no retrospective mitigation available to dissertation elements with deadlines after 23 July 2021.
