Jill Schofield was appointed as Dean of the newly formed Faculty of Business and Social Sciences in August 2018, she also holds the PVC portfolio for Civic and External Engagement at the University. She has previously held deputy vice chancellor and deanship posts at the Universities of Buckingham, Bristol, York and prior to that the endowed Somers Chair of Healthcare Management at the University of Edinburgh.
Jill's research interests include studies of the implementation of policy initiatives and the operation of the policy process; intersectoral and interagency working, and management in complex service delivery organizations. Jill has advised on numerous capital investment projects for health and social care and PPP / PFI projects with international field based research. In China she was part of a knowledge sharing team advising on the challenges involved in co-ordinating healthcare provision on such a large scale. Over her career she has also been extensively involved in management development for top teams including clients such as Biffa, Balfour Beatty and Hoechst Chemicals as well as numerous public services organizations.
Jill is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and as a Dean, she is responsible for the academic and resource management of the Faculty and for its strategic and operational performance both internally and externally. She also promotes interfaculty and interdisciplinary working. In her PVC role, Jill is responsible for promoting and liaising with the Civic life and communities of Kingston and the region as well as encouraging external engagement with businesses, public and not for profit organisations.
