Understanding Forces Families

Kingston University is very pleased to host a forum to enable students and colleagues to find out more about how the Forces community operates - and how to meet their specific needs. Whether you are interested in the special support needed by families within a sector of society that is often little understood, excited by the opportunity of a posting to an international Forces school (teaching and administrative roles are available), or curious about how Forces families experience the world for your journalism, publishing or creative writing practice, we welcome you to find out more. Speakers will include:

  • Dr Rachael Gribble, The King's Centre for Military Health Research - on what research shows about the life of Forces families
  • Julie Ritchie, Headteacher of Latchmere School, Kingston - which has a consistently high number of Services children
  • A parent on the positive and negative impacts of Forces life on her family
  • Other interested professionals and policy makers

In addition, for those undertaking research into the Forces or related subjects, there is the option to attend a research seminar in the morning of 22 March at Kingston Hill. From 10.00am - 12 midday the London chapter of the Services Children in Progression Alliance will be meeting at Kingston University, and observers are welcome. To register your interest please email Rachael Gribble.

Booking is essential to attend this event.
