My top 3 spots on campus for when I need to get work done

As a Pharmacology student, I am very familiar with the Penrhyn Road campus and Townhouse library, as most of my lectures and study time are based here. During my first year I ran into a problem; I couldn’t decide where to go when Townhouse became busy.
Luckily for me the pressure of exam seasons and assignments pushed me to find hidden spots across campus, not only to focus, but also to support my university experience through silence and relaxation.
The discovery of my first favourite spot was thanks to my campus job. As a student ambassador I completed many shifts at Sopwith building distributing equipment, guiding students across campus and working with staff. After completing a few shifts, I noticed a seating area on the ground floor of Sopwith building, perfect for silent work, fully equipped with charging sockets and a private seating arrangement. Not only was Sopwith usually a quiet building perfect for completing coursework, but it also became a place to relax between lectures without having to take a packed lift or run to my next class.
I uncovered my next campus spot while organising the first group meeting for a 2-month research project; one of my group members introduced me to rooms which I hadn't previously noticed on campus - bookable rooms within the Townhouse library. Using the Kingston University app, I was able to book one of these private study rooms. The effect? Focused teamwork, equipped with a white board, desk and seating.
My final and favourite spot-on campus has the best view of the three but is the most underrated.
I needed a quiet space to listen to a webinar before heading off to do a shift for my campus job - but I had one problem: I didn’t have a lot of time. If I walked over to sit in Townhouse, I would be late to work, my best option was to stay in the John Galsworthy building and find a quiet space. There are quiet seating areas located on every floor of John Galsworthy, each surrounded by huge windows overlooking the Penrhyn Road campus. This is the spot I am most excited to go to when I want to relax with friends before my lectures or even to eat lunch when the canteen is busy.
All three of these spots have been sites of relaxation, peace and many stressful study sessions, and I can’t wait to use them more as I enter the second year of my degree.
