I am based at Kingston Hill campus 2 days a week, as lecturer practitioner for Mental Health Nursing. I also work in clinical practice for 3 days a week, for South West London and St George's Mental Health Trust, where I am the Development Nurse Manager for the Student Experience Team.
Prior to this, I worked as a Community Psychiatric Nurse for a Single Point of Access Team, where I was part of a small team, assessing and supporting the mental health of residents referred to us from the London Borough of Sutton.
Since qualifying as a Registered Mental Health nurse, I have also completed my training as a Professional Nurse Advocate and as a student, I was able to participate in a research project with King's College London.
Prior to qualifying as a Mental Health Nurse, I held various clerical positions in general hospitals within the NHS.
This is my first academic role, but my clinical role as Development Nurse Manager for Student Experience has enabled me to be involved in Trust projects that provided extra learning to student nurses on placement with the Trust and to support with teaching various modules in the Preceptorship programme and the Trust Parity of Esteem programme.
Whilst studying for my BSc, I was involved in a Scoping study, looking at the barriers to older adults seeking sexual health advice.
