Dr Ricarda Micallef

About

I am a registered pharmacist, bringing experience from practice into teaching and research. I started my career working for Boots in various management and training roles, and progressed into academia through a teacher practitioner role. I started at Kingston in 2014 teaching in the Pharmacy Practice team. I am actively involved locally and across South London in community pharmacy practice, and evaluation of pharmacy services. My PhD focused on the creation of a framework to support planning, delivery and evaluation of learning events. I am the Co-Chair of the University Athena Swan Self-assessment team.

Teaching and learning

My teaching focuses on professionalism, professional skills such as leadership and communication, along with law and ethics.

I am the module leader for the Pharmacy module 'Pharmacy Law, Ethics and Practice.'

Research

My research focuses on pharmacist education and lifelong learning, along with a focus on undergraduate pharmacist training. I also evaluate local community pharmacy initiatives. Evaluation of community pharmacy services, and work linked to law and ethics, including safeguarding and whistleblowing are areas of interest.
