About

I am a Sub-Regional Assessor (SRA) at Kingston University. I am responsible for providing an academic and personal tutor role that assesses the on the job learning of apprentices undertaking the Social Work BA (Hons) Integrated Degree Apprenticeship. I am a qualified practice educator. I am an advocate of good social work practice and the need for social workers to demonstrate professional credibility, evidence based practice, cultural competence and cultural humility.  I am keen to nurture the future students entering our profession as well as role model professional standards and values in line with Social Work England.

I graduated from Kingston University in 2008. The learning from my first student placement within a crisis mental health team continues to inform my personal and professional life. I am keen for the social work profession to integrate a trauma informed approach to practice. I have attended training on the story stem assessment profile at the Anna Freud centre to assist with assessing possible trauma in children. I have a certificate as a suicide first aider.

I am a registered social worker with 13 years of practice wisdom including my managing social workers in a looked after children team for four years and later managing social workers in an early help team for eighteen months. I am passionate about managers leading staff with compassion.
