Mrs Joanne Powell

Senior Lecturer in General Practice Nursing

About

I am the Senior Lecturer for General Practice Nursing based at St Georges University London. I am module leader for two workforce development modules - both 30 credit modules at level 6. The first is the General Practice Nursing module which teaches the theory and practice of general practice nursing aimed at nurses new to this field. I am also co-module leader on the Diabetes Care module.  Prior to my academic position, I was a diabetes specialist nurse in general practice. In addition, I teach on the pre-registration programme at Kingston University in modules covering long term condition management and also the complexities of adult nursing. I am a link lecturer for general practice placements in the Croydon, Sutton and Merton areas. From the next academic year, I will be taking up the position of Year 2 Lead.
