What is validation?

The term validation refers to the process of approving a new course to be delivered and awarded by the University.

The purpose of the validation process is to ensure that the new course will be delivered to the required standards, provide a high quality student experience, and the course content is current and equips you with the skills to enter the relevant industry.

What does 'subject to validation' mean?

New courses going through the validation process will be advertised as ‘subject to validation'. This is to make you aware that the course is still going through the validation process and therefore the information being provided may be subject to change. Once the course has been approved then the 'subject to validation' statement will be removed and the information provided in the course webpage will reflect the approved course.

If the course is significantly amended from what is advertised the University will inform you.

Revalidation of courses

The term revalidation refers to the process of redesigning and reapproving an existing course that is already being delivered and awarded by the University.

The purpose of the revalidation process is to refresh the course content to ensure that it remains current and continues to teach the knowledge and skills that you need to enter the relevant industry. As well as a general refresh of the curriculum, courses are also revalidated to meet new industry requirements, which are normally prescribed by relevant professional bodies representing the industry.

Once the revalidation has been completed the University will inform you, whether you are a current student or an applicant, of the changes made to the course.
