About
I have been proactively involved in the undergraduate and postgraduate provision of Historic Building Conservation programmes for many years, with responsibility for admissions and formerly course leadership, as well as for teaching matters that concern the interaction of built heritage assets and the regeneration of urban environments. My position is founded on 30 years of teaching in the built environment disciplines of Architecture, Real Estate, both Building and Quantity Surveying and also Town and Country Planning. This followed on from a decade in practice as an architect.
My current research activities are based on the impact of climate change on historic buildings which builds on my past focus on the pedagogy of sustainability in the professional education of built environment disciplines. Both teaching and research were consolidated through my directorship of a Centre of Excellence funded by HEFCE initiative and the subsequent opportunities that emerged. Externally, I chair the Surrey Historic Building Trust.
