About
I started my lecturing career in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Calabar, Nigeria between 1980 and 1984 after completing my PhD at North East London Polytechnic (now the University of East London). Prior to joining Kingston, I worked for more than six years as a Research Fellow in the Department of Histopathology at University College London and Middlesex School of Medicine.
I joined Kingston University as a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Biology in 1991 and was promoted in 1997 to Principal Lecturer. I was appointed substantive Head of the School of Life Sciences in 2007, having previously been Acting Head (2004–07) and Acting Deputy Head (2002–04).
I retired from the Head of School post at the end of July 2014, but returned part-time as Associate Professor in Life Sciences. I continued to teach on several biomedical science modules and helped supervise a number of postgraduate students.
I finally retired from this position at the end of August 2022, but continue to advise several postgraduate students and maintain research links with Professors Modjtahedi and Karlyshev.
