About
Dr Alvart Balmanian is a Lecturer in Finance at Kingston Business School. She holds a PhD in Finance from Newcastle University.
Her research lies at the intersection of behavioural finance, corporate finance and derivatives – focusing on how investors behave in both stock and option markets during major corporate events, and exploring the role of sentiment in shaping investor behaviour. Her research has been presented in international academic conferences.
Alvart's broader research interests include topics on behavioural finance, mergers and acquisitions and market efficiency.
Having worked at an investment bank in the Middle East, Alvart inputs practice-based insights into her teaching. She is experienced in teaching a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate finance modules covering topics in international money and finance, money banking and financial markets, corporate finance, retail and investment banking, managerial and business economics, and mathematics for business and economics.
