Lecturer in Accounting and Finance
About
I am a Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at Kingston Business School. Prior to joining the school, I was awarded an MSc in Accounting and Financial Management (with distinction) from Royal Holloway University where I then pursued and completed my PhD in Accounting.
My research interests focus on corporate communication and stakeholder engagement, with particular emphasis on how organisations use accounting and visual material to construct meaning during periods of crisis and uncertainty. I am particularly interested in qualitative and interpretive approaches in understanding accounting practice, and in the role of visual analysis in accounting research. I adopt multidisciplinary perspectives in research inspired by psychology, linguistics, semiotics and visual arts.
I teach across a range of modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including Theory and Practice of Financial Reporting, Data and Technology in Business and Financial Statement Analysis. Informed by research, my teaching aims to develop in students a critical understanding on financial and non-financial communication and how it shapes stakeholder perceptions.
I am active in the Accountability, Governance and Capital Market Research Hub at Kingston Business School.
