About
I am currently working as a lecturer in pharmaceutical science at Kingston University, bringing a wealth of experience that seamlessly integrates teaching, research, and industry expertise into the classroom.
After earning my BPharm degree in 2009, I ventured into the pharmaceutical industry before transitioning back to academia at IUST/Syria (2010–2015). During this period, I passionately taught Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy practical modules, aiming to bridge the gap between industrial practices and academic knowledge. I created interactive and context-rich sessions, challenging students to think critically and apply theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios.
Following this, I was fortunate to receive a fellowship from the Council for At-Risk Academics (CARA) in 2015. Subsequently, I pursued an MSc in Pharmaceutical Manufacture & Quality Control at Liverpool John Moores University (2016). This journey paved the way for a full PhD scholarship, during which I explored novel lipid-based vesicles for sustained buccal delivery of local anaesthetics for oral pain relief from (2020).
Building on my research expertise, I joined as a KTP Associate (postdoctoral researcher) to contribute to a project funded by Innovate UK and Catalent Pharma Solutions (2020–2022). Based at Aston University, the project received an Outstanding rating from Innovate UK, and its outcomes were protected by a patent application. This hands-on industry experience has proven invaluable in shaping my teaching methodology, allowing me to integrate real-world insights into the academic sphere.
My multifaceted background uniquely positions me to educate and inspire the next generation of pharmaceutical scientists, fostering an environment where theory meets practice in the pursuit of academic excellence.

Domains
Research Interests:
- Development of Delivery Systems including Lipid-Based Formulations, Nano, and Micro-Scale Formulations: Lipid-based formulations are commonly used to enhance the solubility and bioavailability of poorly water-soluble drugs, improving drug stability, targeting, and release profiles.
- Development of Non-Invasive Delivery Systems, Buccal, Nasal, and Transdermal Delivery: These delivery systems offer alternatives to traditional oral routes, promoting better patient compliance, providing systemic drug delivery, bypassing the gastrointestinal tract, and enabling controlled and sustained release.
- Development of Carrier Systems for Large Molecular Weight APIs (Peptides and Macromolecules) : Large molecular weight APIs often face challenges related to stability and bioavailability. Carrier systems can be designed to protect these molecules and enhance their delivery to the target site.
- Development of Ex-vivo and Cell-Based Models for Product Development.
