About
I am a Senior Lecturer in Quantity Surveying in the Department of Civil Engineering, Surveying and Construction Management at Kingston University. Since joining the university in 2021, I have undertaken several key roles, including serving as the interim Course Director for the MSc Building and Quantity Surveying, and currently as the Course Director for BSc (Hons) and MSc Quantity Surveying.
I teach a range of Built Environment-related modules in Building/Quantity Surveying and Construction Management at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I am Chartered with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
My academic journey began with a BSc in Quantity Surveying in Nigeria, where I also worked for several years in the construction industry and taught in higher education. I went on to obtain an MSc in Construction Project Management from the University of Salford, Manchester, UK, and subsequently earned a PhD in Lean Construction Management from Nottingham Trent University (NTU). Prior to my current role, I spent over four years as a part-time lecturer at NTU, teaching Quantity Surveying and Construction Management courses.
My research interests include:
- Lean Project Management
- AI in the Built Environment – enhancing project costs and performances.
- Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Cost Management
- Procurement and Contract Management
- Concepts of Waste and Value in Construction
- Emerging and Contemporary Issues in Quantity Surveying Practice
I supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate research in these areas and am currently investigating the latest trends in Lean Construction and the concept of collaborative costing in practice. I welcome inquiries from prospective PhD students interested in working on these topics.
My core objective is to embed research-informed teaching into the curriculum at Kingston University, ensuring our students develop both the professional and technical skills needed to thrive in a range of exciting and fulfilling careers within the Built Environment.
