About
Dr Shivangi Talwar conducts applied clinical research with trauma-affected populations, specifically with survivors of violence and abuse. She has led several funded projects with varied groups including trauma survivors, veterans, early career researchers, mental health and voluntary sector professionals, allied health professionals and trainee clinical psychologists. She conducts qualitative studies and systematic and scoping reviews using traditional and rapid approaches. She believes in employing PPIE/CEI in her work.
Before moving to Kingston University, Shivangi was based at the UCL Division of Psychiatry where she completed her doctoral work on the psychosocial interventions for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse in South Asia. Her postdoctoral work focused on co-developing recommendations for improving psychosocial services for adult survivors of sexual violence of South Asian origin in the UK. She was also the trauma module lead and lecturer for MSc students and a project and placement supervisor.
Shivangi is a qualified clinical psychologist in India (MPhil) with expertise in working with trauma-affected populations. Whilst she is passionate about developing a clinical academic career, she has a keen interest in developing the next generation of researchers and clinicians.
