About
After training as a nurse and midwife, I have spent the majority of my professional career working in safeguarding and perinatal mental health. My clinical and educational interests have been shaped by extensive experience supporting vulnerable women, families, and infants within complex safeguarding contexts using a trauma informed approach. I completed my MSc in Midwifery with a focus on safeguarding and babies born into the care system.
I previously led safeguarding education for midwifery and multidisciplinary teams within a local NHS Trust, a role that prompted further formal study. This led to the completion of a Postgraduate Certificate and subsequent consolidation of my academic learning at the University of Surrey, prior to my appointment at Kingston University.
My professional development has continued over more than 30 years across both NHS and higher education settings. I remain committed to ongoing learning and reflective practice and look forward to further developing my knowledge, skills, and contributions within the midwifery department.
I continue to support families in crisis alongside my lecturer post and volunteer my photography skills for mothers and babies who are separated at birth.
