About
I qualified as a registered mental health nurse in 2011 after graduating from Kingston University with a BSc (Hons) in Nursing. I joined the Faculty in November 2014 as a Senior Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing. I began my career as a staff nurse in a female medium secure unit and then joined the Complex Needs Service as a Mentalization-based treatment (MBT) therapist working with service users with a diagnosis of personality disorders. I continue to work in this particular service until summer 2024.
I developed an interest in working with service users with a diagnosis of personality disorder as a student nurse. I studied psychosocial interventions in 2012 which lead to an interest in promoting carer support for families of service users with a diagnosis of personality disorder and established and facilitated a successful family and friends group in my clinical area. I presented and published research on 'Improving communication and inclusion for families and carers of service users with a diagnosis of personality disorder' and I have presented research regarding ‘The experience of recovery from a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder'.
