About
I have more than 20 years of clinical nursing and education experience here and abroad. I have previous experience of teaching on the pre-registration Children's Nursing Course where I have been nominated for an award for College of Nursing, Midwifery and Healthcare Lecturer of the Year. I am the Pathway Leader for the Neonatal Modules and a link lecturer for Children's Nursing students in St. George's Hospital.
Before venturing into teaching in higher education, I worked as a Neonatal Network Facilitator, under a project by Health Education England Northwest London. The role enabled me to work in six different Neonatal Units within northwest London, facilitating newly-qualified Band 5 nurses and nurses new to speciality, as well those undertaking their QIS, offering face-to-face training and support. I have also been part of the working group of Pan London Educators that put together the Pan London Band 5 Competency Book for Neonatal Nurses during my time as a unit practice educator. I also have specialisation in Neonatal Surgery and worked in a Level 3 Surgical NICU.
Qualifications
- MSc in Advanced Practice with Healthcare Education
- Graduate Certificate in Neonatal High Dependency and Intensive Care
- PG Cert in Clinical Education
- BSc Nursing
- NMC Teacher
- Fellow in Higher Education
Domains
My passion is teaching children's and neonatal nursing. I have previously taught on children's nursing modules and science-based modules such as Anatomy and Physiology, Altered Physiology, Pharmacology, decision-making, simulation and nursing skills for all speciality. I have also supervised students on their Level 6 dissertations and taught on research related modules.
I have interest in innovative teaching as well as inter-professional learning. I previously developed a teaching pack for cannulation and venepuncture for pre-registration students in my previous role, which is a fulfilment of the requirements for the MSc Advanced Practice. The learning pack included an e-learning module as well as theory and practice skills resources.
I also have special interest in genetics and genomics.
