About
Gautham Radhakrishnan is a lecturer in aviation maintenance whose career bridges aircraft engineering, human factors, and safety management. With experience across India and the United Kingdom, he brings a rich blend of practical industry knowledge and academic research to his teachings.
Before joining academia, Gautham worked with British Airways in engineering planning, where he managed the scheduling and compliance of maintenance activities across both long-haul and short-haul fleets. His work focused on optimising maintenance schedules, ensuring regulatory compliance under Part 145 and Part M.
Passionate about aviation, Gautham holds a bachelors degree in Aeronautical Engineering with hands-on experience as technician in a flying club, where he performed maintenance activities of light aircraft. These formative years provided him with a deep understanding of technical maintenance procedures and regulatory documentation. He holds an MSc in Safety and Human Factors in Aviation from Cranfield University where he broadened his knowledge in cognitive ergonomics, safety management and risk analysis. His academic work explores the practicality of using Augmented Reality (AR) in aircraft maintenance training, compared the effectiveness of immersive learning with traditional learning methodologies.
As a lecturer, Gautham is passionate about connecting theory with real world examples, and his teaching integrates case studies with his experience and research, preparing students to meet the evolving demands in the industry.
