About
I joined the midwifery department at Kingston University as a senior lecturer in 2019, following a part-time secondment that began in 2017. During that time, I worked both within the academic team and as a Practice Development Midwife, supporting clinical education and staff development. I am proud to be part of a dynamic and supportive team, and I thoroughly enjoy working with our diverse and dedicated student community.
My clinical background includes a wide range of midwifery roles, with a particular focus on supporting newly-qualified midwives during preceptorship and delivering training within hospital settings. These experiences have shaped my commitment to high-quality education and the development of confident, capable practitioners.
I am the module leader for Midwifery Profession and Practice B in the third year of the undergraduate programme and postgraduate midwifery programmes. I also lead on clinical skills teaching across the midwifery curriculum, ensuring students gain hands-on experience in essential midwifery procedures. As Exams and Assessment Tutor, I support the integrity and fairness of our academic processes, helping students achieve their best through clear guidance and structured support.
I am the Course Lead for the Foundation Year in Midwifery. This course provides an alternative route into midwifery for those students who may not have the entry requirements needed to enrol into the 3-year programme. The Foundation Year is a joint course with the school of nursing which provides students with the foundations needed to be successful on the undergraduate nursing and midwifery programmes. This initiative reflects Kingston University’s commitment to innovation, inclusion, and community impact.
My work supports the University’s Future Skills agenda, particularly in fostering adaptability, collaboration, and resilience among students. I am passionate about inclusive education and proud to contribute to a university that values diversity, research excellence, and progressive learning.
