About
I am the Associate Professor for Adult Nursing and I have previously been an academic at two London Universities.
I have a background in adult nursing and biomedical sciences. Since 1998, I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, namely plastic surgery, acute surgical, general medicine, neurology, paediatrics and clinical research both early and late phases.
I have been a specialist research nurse and a nurse researcher for many years with a special interest in clinical, pharmaceutical and pedagogical research. I have been involved in the pioneering research on Non-Motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease in developing the NMS Questionnaire and NMS Scale, now recommended by the NICE guidelines and recognised internationally. During that period, I was selected for two awards at the World Federation of Neurologist and the Movement Disorder Society for the Young Scientist Award.
My last clinical job was as the Lead Research Nurse at the Wellcome Trust, UCLH. Now, my focus is to ensure excellence in teaching within adult nursing and leadership and management within nursing education.

Courses taught
Most of my publications have been with clinical neurology with a focus on non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease. I am nationally and internationally known for the contribution that I have made within the field of Parkinson's disease. I have been involved in the validation of the two Parkinson's disease non-motor group assessment tools: NMSQuest and NMS Scale, which are internationally used and also recommended by the NICE guidelines.
Now, my research interests have progressed from clinical to pedagogy with a focus on teaching and learning innovations leading to developing sought-after students. I also have a special interest in motivational factors in high achievers in order to increase the good degree classifications.
