About
As Professor of Higher Education Research at the Faculty of Health, Science, Social Care, and Education at Kingston University, my research focuses on education, professional development, and wellbeing of Healthcare Professionals and Health and Social Care students.
I am Joint Director of the Centre of Applied Health and Social Care Research (CAHSCR), Founding Lead of the Healthcare Educational Research and Evaluation research group (HERE), and Founding Lead of the Health & Social Care Workforce - Development and Education Research Group (HESCADE). I serve as Visiting Professor at Kristianstad University in Sweden and as Adjunct Professor at Tung Wah College in Hong Kong. I also serve as an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Multiple Research Approaches.
I have a PhD in Educational Psychology (focus on research methods) from the University of Minnesota, USA. I have secured several research grants, published over 50 articles in research journals, and presented my research at national and international conferences. I also review for research journals and conferences (e.g., AERA, BERA).
I received awards for my research excellence, such as the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Outstanding PhD Dissertation award, the Research Excellence Award at the University of Minnesota, and the Kingston University Recognition of Achievement Award.
As Director of Research for the School of Nursing at Kingston University (2016-2021), I developed and implemented a strategy to enhance the research culture, and increase research capacity, income and productivity.
I have more than 20 years of teaching experience, including blended-learning teaching, developing and leading modules, supervising postgraduate (MSc, PhD) students, and mentorship, all of which have earned me awards.
I am also Public Governor at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the UK.
I have lived, studied, and worked in Belgium, the USA, and the UK and am fluent in English, Dutch, and French.

Domains
I have a range of teaching qualifications and have taught in three different countries (Belgium, UK, USA). These experiences have contributed to my development as a teacher/educator who is sensitive to the needs of adult learners from diverse backgrounds. My subject matter expertise is research methods, which I teach across the Faculty's postgraduate portfolio (MSc, MRes, EdD, PhD). My students come from a range of clinical and healthcare disciplines.
