Celebrating Black History Month at Kingston University
- Student life
This year's theme, "Honouring Our Communities", encourages us to recognise the people, networks and spaces that support, inspire and empower us. Communities shape who we are. They provide belonging, create opportunities and drive positive change, both within universities and beyond.
At Kingston University, Black History Month is an opportunity to come together, learn from one another and celebrate the diversity that strengthens our community. Throughout the month, colleagues and students will have the chance to hear from inspiring guest speakers, engage in meaningful conversations and take part in activities that explore Black history, culture and lived experiences.
Alongside the University's BAME network events, Kingston Students' Union will be hosting a range of events that offer opportunities to connect, celebrate and reflect with fellow students.
Black history is not just about looking back. It is about recognising the impact Black individuals and communities continue to have today and understanding how we can all contribute to creating a more inclusive future.
Whether you're attending a speaker session, joining a Students' Union event or taking time to learn something new, we encourage everyone to get involved this Black History Month.
Together, let's celebrate, listen, learn and honour the communities that make Kingston University the vibrant and welcoming place it is.
