Kingston University triumphs in Varsity 2026

Hosted across multiple venues, the event brought together competitive sport, packed crowds, and an electric atmosphere from start to finish.

The opening events were held at LSBU and focused on indoor sports, where Kingston Sport got off to a challenging start with a netball 2s defeat on Day one. Day two delivered momentum shifts and tension in equal measure. Kingston Sport struck back with a win in mixed volleyball to level Varsity at 1–1, before taking victory in men’s badminton to edge ahead. A loss in mixed badminton brought the score to 2–2, but a strong performance in women’s basketball pushed Kingston Sport 3–2 up. LSBU Active responded late on with a narrow two‑point win in men’s basketball, meaning Varsity was finely poised at 3–3 heading into the final day.

Day three moved outdoors to Kingston University’s Tolworth Sports Ground, where nearly 400 spectators turned out in support. Early kick‑offs saw Kingston Sport win women’s football, while LSBU Active took men’s rugby, leaving the overall score locked at 4–4. What followed was a dominant afternoon for Kingston Sport. Wins in cricket, netball 1s and men’s football 2s sealed the Varsity title at 7–4, securing victory before the finale and delivering Kingston Sports’ first Varsity triumph in seven years – and the inaugural win against LSBU.

The final event, men’s football 1s, took place under the floodlights at Corinthian‑Casuals FC. With the title already secured, the match was played in a celebratory spirit. Kingston Sport raced into a 1–0 lead, fell behind 3–1, and showed real grit to battle back to 3–3. Although LSBU Active edged the penalty shootout 5–4, the match capped off a memorable Varsity, finishing Kingston Sport 7 – LSBU Active 5.

Adding to the occasion at the finale was an outstanding half‑time performance from our cheer team, who took to the field and delivered an incredible show.

At Tolworth Sports Ground, table tennis and flag football ran throughout the day to offer recreational sport activities. And there were passionate crowds armed with air horns, cowbells and megaphones bought at the Kingston Sport pop-up, and support from partners including Domino’s, Red Bull, Fitted For Fans, Brewsmith's, The Moo Shack and Matcha By Us. Despite battling sun, wind and the elements, Kingston Sport delivered a Varsity to remember.
