Non-Medical Help supplier guidance
Working with Kingston University as a Non-Medical Help (NMH) supplier? Here’s everything you need to know about working with us and supporting our students.

Providing Non-Medical Help at Kingston University
Your role as a Non-Medical Help supplier
We work with NMH suppliers to give our students the support they need. All NMH providers must adhere to the standards in the Disabled Students' Allowance Quality Assurance Group (DSA-QAG) Quality Assurance Framework (QAF).
As an external NMH supplier, you must:
- Set up a reporting mechanism to let Kingston University know if and when you’re supporting a student here
- Explain the reporting mechanism to students and encourage them to give permission for information to be shared
- Make sure all support workers are familiar with the information we provide about NMH services
- Give us details for a contact we can go to with student support queries
- Respond promptly to any queries and concerns that come up
- Provide copies of any relevant policies on request
- Secure funding before any sessions begin and monitor allocated hours to make sure students don’t run out (Kingston University is not accountable for any payments that Student Finance England refuses to pay)
- Arrange suitable meeting rooms for support sessions
- Signpost students back to their disability adviser or relevant faculty to discuss any issues
- Contact our Disability and Mental Health Team immediately if you have any concerns around engagement with the support, welfare, safety, security or academic progression
Summarising your support
If you’re providing Band 4 support to a student, you should send us a summary report at the end of each term. This should include:
- Student name(s)
- Company registration number (CRN)
- Support worker name(s)
- A brief description of the support
- Start date
- Sessions or hours delivered this term and in total for the year
- Location
- Any issues Kingston University should be aware of or follow up on
Securing a suitable space
As an external provider, you’re responsible for arranging comfortable, confidential spaces to meet with students. Kingston University has limited meeting rooms, so we recommend making your own arrangements outside of campus.
