Welcome to the country information for students from the USA.
We visit the USA on average two times a year, typically in September and October. You can expect to meet us in New York, Washington DC, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago. Find out about our scheduled visits or if you are unable to make it to our events, find out when we will be available to chat online.
Most bachelors degrees in the UK are three years in duration and masters degrees are one year. The teaching style here means that students focus more closely on their subject of study and complete fewer general education classes and electives. This is an advantage to American students because it means you can complete your degree in a shorter amount of time and therefore pay one year's less tuition. Degrees from UK universities are recognised around the world and are considered to be of the highest quality.
American financial aid is available to students studying in the UK. Kingston University also has scholarships worth £2,000 each that we encourage all American students to apply for. While undertaking your degree you are eligible to work part time.
As one of the fastest growing modern universities in the UK, Kingston maintains a tradition of developing courses with industry experts and professional organisations. These partnerships help Kingston University achieve some of the best graduate employment figures in the UK.
We're located in Kingston upon Thames, a safe, attractive and lively riverside town in south-west London. Kingston is only 30 minutes by train from central London, and about an hour from Gatwick and Heathrow airports. Kingston is consistently rated the safest borough in London (Metropolitan Police, 2013) and the happiest place to live in London (Rightmove, 2013). It's also the sixth happiest place to live in the UK.
We will consider transfer students for advanced placement onto our degree programmes. However, the faculty teaching the course has the final decision on whether or not to accept your credits and we cannot guarantee that all credits earned will be applied to your Kingston degree. Read more about transferring credits to Kingston on our entry requirements page.
If you are interested in studying at Kingston University as part of your degree in the United States (for either a semester or a year), please visit the Study Abroad site. Kingston University also hosts a Summer School each year, which welcomes undergraduate students from around the world, including the United States, who earn credits to take back home.
