I am a passionate Energy Engineer with over 12 years of experience in developing several low carbon technologies, setting up a state-of-the-art solar laboratory, teaching engineering courses and supervising students. I have spearheaded several UKRI & Innovate UK projects under interdisciplinary settings, provided technical leadership, written grant proposals, and carried out wider engagement with several national and international universities/industries. Currently, I work as an Assistant Professor/ Lecturer in Renewable Energy at Kingston University where I teach and lead the activity of research and development of renewable energy technologies.
Further, I supervise and mentor PhD students and carry out teaching, evaluation, and course development activity for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Previously, as a named Research Fellow, I worked on an EPSRC, and CREDS Funded project titled ‘Advanced building façade design for optimal delivery of end-use energy demand'. My work focused on the design of novel glazing/window technologies and developing Integrated Energy models to predict and optimise their performance, analyse their environmental impacts, and incorporate the principles of the circular economy within its design.
I am also the founding director of a university spin-out Build Solar Ltd which aims to integrate cutting edge solar technologies within buildings and infrastructure. I hold a British patent for the Solar Squared technology (GB2561369) which is currently being pursued in several international territories. In 2019, I received the Cornwall Sustainability Award for Innovation under the Sustainability category. In 2021, I received a Teaching Award nomination as an outstanding supervisor for supervising an undergraduate dissertation project at the University of Exeter. This work was further presented at the esteemed BCUR conference.
