About
I am a Professor of Art History at Kingston University and Co-Director of The Visual and Material Culture Research Centre. I studied the History of Art at the University of Manchester, specialising in modern and contemporary art.
I have published widely on contemporary and modern visual culture, and have more than 25 years of experience collaborating on a variety of international interdisciplinary creative arts projects and exhibitions across the museums and galleries sector.
Most recently, I was Project Lead for ‘Making it Home: An Aesthetic Methodological Contribution to the Study of Migrant Home-Making and Politics of Integration (MaHoMe)’, 2020-2024, funded by NordForsk, in partnership with Roskilde University in Denmark and Lund University in Sweden. Project website: MaHoMe
I established the Kingston School of Art Archive at Kingston University and I am currently researching émigré artists in post-war Britain and contemporary performance art and activism in Japan.
