Costs of living in Kingston

Erasmus exchange students do not have to pay any additional tuition fees. However, you will need to budget for:

Local travel

Students can use the University's free intersite bus service. If you use a public transport, it costs:

  • £1.40 for a single bus trip (€1.68) with an Oyster card or £2.40 (€2.88) without an Oyster card; and
  • £2.10 (€2.52) for a single journey within zone one of the London Underground with an adult Oyster card or £4.50 (€5.39) without an Oyster card.

You could also take advantage of a daily travelcard. The Transport for London student photo/Oyster card will give you 30% discount on seven-day or longer travelcards and bus passes. You can apply once enrolled at Kingston University.

Social and course costs

  • Text books: £80–£140 per semester (€90.40–158.20)
  • Paper, photocopying, laser printing etc: £60 per semester (€67.80)
  • Sundries and personal items: £30 (€33.90) per week
