Orientation for Study Abroad and International Exchange Students

We realise that arriving in a new country and meeting new people may be initially confusing and stressful as well as exciting. Our aim is to make sure that you are prepared for studying at Kingston by arranging a specific tailored orientation session.

Date: Friday 6 January 2023, 12.30 - 2.30pm

Location: Clattern Lecture Theatre, ground floor, Main Building, Penrhyn Road Campus

Topics normally covered include:

  • meeting some of the Study Abroad International Learning (SAIL) Office  team, including their contact details and availability;
  • adjusting to successful learning and teaching in the UK/Kingston system;
  • discussing study plans and timetables;
  • introducing the IT and library services;
  • using public transport;
  • finding out more about a wide range of tours around the UK and in Europe offered by a local tour company.

Erasmus/European Exchange students can attend the first half, but may also have their own departmental-specific orientation.

Enrolment is the event when you confirm your status as a Kingston University student and will receive your student identity card. There are two stages, the first part of which is done online and the second in-person (identity check).

It is completely unrelated to registering in individual modules, which is a separate process discussed at orientation on 6 January.
