Royal Economic Society 2026 Annual Public Lecture
- 3 November 2026
Join us on 3 November for the Royal Economic Society's Annual Public Lecture, hosted by Kingston University.
About the event
Established in 2001, the Royal Economic Society's Annual Public Lecture provides an opportunity for school students to watch internationally renowned economists present their research. This year, nearly 300 pupils from local schools and colleges will be attending for a day of activities and events.
The Royal Economic Society’s Annual Public Lecture has long been a staple event in the academic year for younger students with an interest in economics. The RES are delighted to be able to bring students each year the opportunity to hear from great academic and professional minds from the world of economics. Students hear topics, ideas and methodologies they might not find in their textbooks, and the chance to meet top names from our profession is one not to be missed.
Chaired by Professor Imran Rasul, Professor of Economics at University College London and Royal Economic Society President 2025–26, this year's lecture will be delivered by Dharshini David OBE, Deputy Economics Editor at BBC News.
Titled 'Is Economics Broken?', Dharshini will reflect on the economic turbulence of recent years and the limited improvements in living standards experienced by many. How do we ensure economics remains relevant, and fit to provide answers in a rapidly changing world?
Although attendance in person is now closed, you can still join the live stream on the day.
