About
I am a lecturer in Exercise Physiology and Health, where I am the module leader for level 6 Applied Exercise Physiology and Level 3 Foundations in Sport and Exercise Science - Athlete Development. Prior to moving to Kingston University, I spent four years teaching Exercise Physiology on the BSc Sport and Exercise Science program at Nottingham Trent University, before moving across to the Department of Engineering to become the module leader of Level 4 Anatomy and Physiology in Sports Engineering.
My research focuses on the effects of overtraining on the immune and endocrine systems, with a specific focus on identifying objective biomarkers of the overtraining syndrome. My other research interests, and topics of ongoing projects include healthy immune ageing and female physiology.
Qualifications
- BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science - Loughborough University
- MSc Exercise Physiology - Loughborough University
- PhD Exercise Immunology - Nottingham Trent University
- Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA)
Domains
I have worked in the higher education sector since 2020 and was awarded my FHEA in 2023. During my time in academia, I have developed a strong focus on student-centred learning, with a keen focus on practical based teaching, exposing students to the laboratory settings as often as possible to apply theory to practice.
