About
I am a Senior Lecturer in Aerodynamics in the Department of Aerospace and Aircraft Engineering at Kingston University. I joined Kingston University as a student in 2013, where I completed my integrated Master’s degree (MEng) in Aerospace Engineering before undertaking a fully funded PhD scholarship investigating ice formation on wind turbine blades.
My research interests lie in aerodynamics, boundary layer behaviour, bio-inspired surface modifications, aerodynamic performance enhancement, and aircraft and wind turbine icing. During my postgraduate studies, I worked on a range of research projects including aircraft fuel burn modelling for London Luton Airport, boundary layer transition using bio-inspired micro-features, grid generation around iced aerofoils, aerodynamic analysis of wind turbine blades, and three-dimensional numerical simulations of aircraft wing–fuselage configurations.
Alongside my academic work, I have gained professional experience through roles including Summer Research Intern at Kingston University and Navigation Approvals Officer at the UK Civil Aviation Authority. I have also been actively involved in student engagement and outreach activities, including STEM outreach and widening participation initiatives, which I continue to support as part of my academic role.
During my PhD, I supported undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, contributing to modules in aerodynamics, propulsion, and engineering design. I continue to supervise and mentor students across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. I also undertook a six-month research placement at Northwestern Polytechnical University (China), on icing research.
I am passionate about promoting engineering and supporting diversity within the profession. My outreach and engagement activities have been featured in university news articles, professional society publications, and external media platforms, including contributions to the Women’s Engineering Society and New Scientist.
