About
I am a lecturer in structural engineering and a chartered structural engineer, a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). My research spans structural engineering, risk and resilience assessment, with a particular focus on advancing integrated risk and resilience frameworks for multi-hazard scenarios. I teach structural analysis and design, and structural dynamics and seismic design modules at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Prior to joining Kingston University, I held various academic and professional positions at the University of Bristol, and Arup in the UK and internationally, where I gained extensive experience in research, teaching, and professional practice. I hold a Masters and PhD in Earthquake and Structural Engineering from Kyoto University, Japan. My strong academic foundation, coupled with diverse industry experience, enables me to conduct cutting-edge research in emerging technologies for structures, risk and resilience.
My teaching and research emphasise bridging the gap between academia and industry through collaboration. I believe in multidisciplinary efforts for impactful research. My primary research interests include innovative structural systems, structural health monitoring, multi-hazard risk and resilience assessment, framework development, and the application of AI technologies in engineering.
I welcome proposals from prospective students (PhD and Masters by Research) and collaborators whose research interests align with these areas.
