Mr Paul Postle

Paul Postle is Course Leader for the Graduate Diploma in Creative Practice at Kingston School of Art. Over the past 15 years, he has led courses across undergraduate and postgraduate art and design education, with extensive experience in curriculum development, course leadership and postgraduate provision. His academic practice is informed by a professional background in photography and visual communication.

His current practice spans photography, visual culture, archival interpretation and creative pedagogy. Ongoing research includes work with the photographic archive of explorer and author Katherine Routledge, particularly material relating to her work in Kenya and on Easter Island, c. 1906–1915; the restoration and development of the CH May photographic archive, dating from the early twentieth century, for exhibition and publication; and the organisation and interpretation of a substantial music archive documenting the band Blur between 1994 and 2006.

Paul is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and has a particular interest in developing and disseminating pedagogic approaches to creativity, design research and postgraduate education. His teaching and curriculum work frequently engages with international student cohorts and with the transition into postgraduate creative education in the UK.

His current pedagogic research also explores the responsible integration of generative AI within creative practice and education, including the development of AI-supported workflows, frameworks and working methods for research, ideation, communication, curriculum development and more effective academic and creative processes.
