Law, criminology, sociology, psychology and economics courses

We provide students with cutting edge local, national and international knowledge and practical experience in law, criminology and social sciences.

Criminology and sociology allow you to combine academic study with real-world impact. You'll experience research and develop employment skills through community-based learning and opportunities for international study. Our courses prepare you for life after university by teaching skills that employers want: problem-solving, data analysis, critical thinking and reasoning.

Our qualifying law degrees are designed and delivered by research-active legal practitioners. You'll be encouraged to take a practical, hands-on approach to your legal studies. Our professional partnerships will enable you to gain work placements in real work scenarios and our established pro bono Community Legal Advice Centre allows you to gain hands-on practical experience of advising clients on their legal problems.

Psychology is a vibrant department that conducts highly-rated research, fosters intellectual discussions, and provides an excellent teaching and learning environment for a diverse student community. We bring together an energetic team of academics with internationally-recognised expertise in the basic and applied aspects of psychological research.

Economics has an active research culture; staff and students present their findings at international conferences and publish them, as books, in academic journals and as commissioned research reports. Our research interests inform our teaching, with staff publications featuring in the study materials.
