About
I have a Masters degree in Human Genetics and a PhD in research psychology, obtained from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. My main research interest is mental health in minority populations, studied both at the genetic and psychological levels, but I also have research experience in genomic medicine and African genetic diversity. For my PhD, I conducted a biopsychosocial investigation of sensory processing sensitivity in South Africa's largest longitudinal birth cohort. I was then awarded a Marie Skłodowksa Curie Individual Fellowship (guaranteed by the UKRI) to continue the biopsychosocial investigation of sensory processing sensitivity in Syrian refugee children, under the guidance of Professor Michael Pluess.
