About
Dr Hadavinia’s primary research focuses on the measurement, finite element modelling, and predictive analysis of the performance and behaviour of nanocomposites and fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) composite structures. His work specifically examines these materials under various loading conditions, including monotonic, fatigue, and impact loading, as well as the behaviour of polymer foams, adhesives, and bonded joints. He also develops methodologies for the lifetime prediction of FRP composite and metallic structures.
Throughout his career, he has led numerous research projects. Notable examples include studies on the improvement of polymer properties using nanomaterials, erosion-resistant coatings for wind turbine leading edges, fatigue analysis of horizontal-axis wind turbine blades, the dynamic behaviour of polymer foams, the performance of hybrid composite/steel shear walls, the crashworthiness of fibre-reinforced polymer composites, and fatigue analysis of fibre-reinforced composite materials.
He has published over 130 scientific papers and holds editorial positions with the Journal of Polymers and Polymer Composites and the International Journal of Recent Patents on Mechanical Engineering. Additionally, he was invited to serve as Guest Editor for four special issues on Modelling and Experimental Characterization of Nanocomposite Materials for the Journal of Nanomaterials (2019), a special issue on Improving Performance of Nanocomposite Materials for the Journal of Materials (2017), a special issue on Blast and Impact of Engineering Structures for the Central European Journal of Engineering (2012), and Structural Impact and Crashworthiness (Parts I and II, 2011) for the International Journal of Vehicle Structures & Systems. He has also chaired multiple international conferences on fracture and damage mechanics and continue to serve on the International Scientific Committee for the International Conference on Fracture and Damage Mechanics.
