About

I am the Head of Department of Civil Engineering, Surveying and Construction Management, and an Associate Professor within the School of Engineering and the Environment at Kingston University, UK. Prior to joining Kingston in 2012, I was a Research Fellow at the Innovative Construction Research Centre (ICRC), University of Reading. Prior to working in academia, I was in The Concrete Centre (TCC) UK, where I worked in multi-disciplinary teams being involved in modern concrete techniques and technologies as well as modern procurement approaches. Also, my practitioner background gained in Turkey was in civil engineering and construction management. I have been actively engaged in the field of built environment since 1995, either as a student, practitioner or an academic.

I am a senior academic with leadership and management experience in professional bodies and academic institutions. I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). I am a chartered construction manager and a chartered engineer. I am also a Senior Fellow of The Higher Education Academy (HEA).

My research interests span construction project management and sustainable construction including application of digital technologies for managing and improving construction quality. I have a number of publications in reputed international journals and conferences. I am an on-going reviewer for a number of reputable international journals.
