Since qualifying as an adult nurse I went straight into practice nursing. Here I developed many community based skills and specialised in chronic respiratory diseases. I moved across a range of practices and developed a passion and interest in advanced practice. I started my MSc in Advanced Practice in 2018 and moved into accident and emergency to gain more experience in minor injuries. In accident and emergency I worked as an emergency nurse practitioner where I really enjoyed learning new clinical skills and developing my knowledge of the emergency services.
As a mentor in my roles I grew a passion for teaching and passing on knowledge to achieve high care standards. I am now working part time as a senior lecturer in adult nursing and am contributing to the general practice nursing course along with the minor illness course. I also work part time at the Kingston Education Centre as a practice nurse and as a nurse educator developing students skills surrounding inter-professional learning.
