Entry requirements for 2019

Typical offer

Points: 96 points:

  • Three A-levels. General Studies not accepted.
  • BTEC National or Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent: Merit Merit Merit.
  • Other Level 3 qualifications equivalent to 96 UCAS points
  • Note: Functional/Key Skills points not accepted as part of the tariff.


96 UCAS Points from Full Access Diploma normally achieved with 45 Level 3 credits of which 18 credits should be at Distinction, 9 at Merit.

Other suitable qualifications

A wide range of other qualifications may be considered on an individual basis, such as:

  • Foundation Degree in related programme 60%
  • International Baccalaureate – 26 Points
  • CACHE Level 3 Diploma – 96 points

All candidates require:

All applicants must possess GCSE A*–C (or comparable numeric score under newly reformed GCSE grading) in five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics or an equivalent qualification eg Functional/Key skills level 2 in numeracy and literacy.

Selection process

Our selection process includes an interview.

An Enhanced Home Office Disclosure and Barring Service Check and an Occupational Health are also required if you are offered and accept a place on the course.

English language requirements

All non-UK applicants must meet our English language requirements. For this course it is Academic IELTS of 7.0 overall with special conditions in all elements. Please make sure you read our full guidance about English language requirements, which includes details of other qualifications we'll consider.

Applicants who do not meet the English language requirements may be eligible to join our pre-sessional English language course.

Applicants from one of the recognised Majority English Speaking Countries (MESCs) do not need to meet these requirements.
