About the Hub
What is the Responsible Value Creation and Governance (ResGov) Research and Knowledge Exchange Hub?
The Hub brings together an interdisciplinary group of Kingston Business School researchers from across accounting, finance, marketing and management to examine how organisations create value responsibly and are held accountable to their stakeholders.
The hub investigates the financial, behavioural and ethical dimensions of corporate conduct – from earnings management, executive pay and non-financial disclosure to consumer trust, public-sector accountability and organisational performance.
By connecting behavioural finance, governance and reporting research with insights into marketing ethics, consumer behaviour and operational excellence, the hub aims to generate evidence-based recommendations for regulators, policymakers and practitioners seeking to align corporate decision-making with long-term societal and stakeholder value.
Hub members hold senior editorial roles, including Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Philanthropy (Wiley) and Associate Editor of the British Accounting Review.

What is the research focus of the Hub?
Research themes
The research themes we investigate in the Responsible Value Creation and Governance Research and Knowledge Exchange Hub leverage our three disciplinary homes of finance and accounting, marketing and management to focus on four cross-cutting themes:
- Responsible and ethical practice – linking governance, responsible marketing and organisational conduct
- Digital transformation and emerging technologies – spanning digital finance, digital consumer behaviour and influencer marketing
- Stakeholder trust and accountability – connecting disclosure, corporate governance, philanthropy and consumer trust
- Public policy and regulation – bridging public-sector accountability, public health policy and fintech regulation
What is the Hub working on?
Key projects
Some of the key research projects in the Responsible Value Creation and Governance Research and Knowledge Exchange Hub include:
- Financial Reporting, Governance & Accountability: research into how disclosure of intangible items, governance structures and executive incentives shape accountability across private, public and non-profit sectors.
- Digital Asset Integration in Financial Markets: research on interconnections between cryptocurrency markets, traditional financial systems and evolving regulatory frameworks.
- Moral Deliberations and Illicit Luxury Brands: research that investigates moral deliberations as demand-side intervention to reduce consumption of illicit luxury brands.
