Media & Communication BA(Hons): Course features

What this course offers you

  • On this course you will develop your critical and creative capacities, through both theory and practice. At each level of the course you will study core, theoretical and practical modules.
  • Specialist practitioners will help you to master the skills necessary for future work in digital media.
  •  A wide range of optional modules at Levels 2 and 3 enable you to tailor your degree to your interests – including options to study abroad.
  •  Kingston is one of London's safest boroughs and only 30 minutes from central London, the hub of the UK's creative economy. (Nesta, July 2016).
  • You'll go on field trips and excursions to locations and places relevant to the course, like the Museum of Brands. Read this testimonial from one of our students about her trip:

"The museum was packed with a lot of products from past years, many of which we recognise today, accompanied with descriptions of the decades in which they were visible and other items that were in fashion at the time. This field trip was recommended for our progression and understanding of one of our modules, where we are focusing on consuming cultures.

We learned how a lot of brands and products were influenced by their time, with some products acting as propaganda for children in the First World War, and others taking their motivations from royal weddings.

Seeing how packaging has changed over the past century has given us evidence on how product branding influences our consumer society, and why changes have been made to keep the product selling. A pleasant surprise and an unforgettable trip!"
