Teaching at Kingston School of Art is almost entirely delivered by active practitioners and industry professionals. Our Research Centres put their emphasis on practice-based exploration which informs teaching across the whole portfolio of courses.
Our staff includes:
Academic staff: All our staff are active professionals. Teaching is led by a core of respected academic practitioners, but enhanced by peripatetic experts. We use expert practitioners to teach our courses, to ensure that we are passing on the very best current thinking and practice. This also gives us the ability to incorporate innovation in practice very quickly to keep as up to date for our students as possible.
Academic researchers: Kingston School of Art is renowned worldwide for its research and ranks high in University league tables. A great many academics within the School of Art support the research endeavour as well as developing new and innovative ways of teaching and developing personal. Our five Research Centres house well-known academics in art, design and architecture.
Academic partners: Perhaps most distinctively, our global network of partners brings a unique dimension to our teaching. Loyal alumni, Honorary Doctors and leading figures in art and design thinking are readily attracted to support our teaching and research. We stage programmes of live or virtual guest speaking, such as Talking Heads (Design) or Register (Architecture); and all students engage in industry-interactive projects. These allow our students access to the latest critical and developmental thinking; to leading industry- and sector-based contacts; and to career opportunities.
