Getting Ready
Congratulations on your offer - welcome to Kingston

Ready to enrol?

Most new students will start their studies and enrol in September 2012. However, enrolment takes place throughout the year for some courses so you may start at a different time.

Whatever time of year you start, you need to understand how to confirm your place and enrol at the University. Please make sure you've read our to do list (including a list of things to bring to enrolment) before you arrive.

Step one Confirmation

  • What happens when I get my results?
You can log into OSIS on results day (16 August 2012) to see if your place at Kingston has been confirmed. Alternatively you can use your secure UCAS PIN number to view your UCAS application online at www.ucas.com. Once your place is confirmed, we'll email you about enrolment.

If you're not taking A-levels, please email aps@kingston.ac.uk with your results as soon as you get them so we can confirm your place.

  • What if I don't get the UCAS points (or international equivalent) I need?
If you miss your grades by just a small margin, we may still be able to confirm your place or offer you an alternative course that suits your interests through Clearing. We'll be running a special confirmation line to help in this situation.

  • I am an international student. What happens if I don't gain the English language score (eg IELTS or TOEFL) I need?
If you don't meet the required English language score for your course (IELTS, TOEFL or equivalent), you may be able to take one of our pre-sessional language courses instead. The length of the course will depend on your current English language level.

These courses are specifically designed to prepare you for study at Kingston. Not only will they develop your English language skills, but also give you experience of the methods and study skills used at a British university. Read more.

Step two Enrolment

  • What is enrolment?
All students must complete a formal enrolment process to become a Kingston University student. Once your enrolment has been fully completed, you will:
    • gain access to University services such as library, computing and sports facilities;
    • become a member of Kingston University Students’ Union (KUSU) – membership includes benefits such as an NUS Extra discount card; and
    • become eligible for council tax exemption certificates and student travel cards (if you are a full-time student).
  • It will also trigger any student loan payment that you are eligible for.

  • How do I enrol?
Part 1 – online enrolment: Once you have met the conditions for entry, we will email your Kingston University student ID (from August onwards for students enrolling in September). You will be able to use these to update your personal details online as the first stage of the enrolment process.

Part 2 – on-campus enrolment: Once you have enrolled online, you'll then also need to attend a face-to-face enrolment event at the University. (Although remember that the process may differ slightly if you're studying off campus. If any part of your study is at another institution, you may need to enrol with them separately as well.)

  • What happens at enrolment?
We'll first ask you to confirm your details and show proof of your identity. You'll then be able to speak to our Finance Department about paying your tuition fees.

Make sure you turn up at your allocated time slot (your school office will send you this or you'll find out through your online update). If you have a disability and require special assistance, please let one of the enrolment staff know when you arrive.

  • What do I need to bring with me to enrolment?
Read our 'to do' list to make sure you bring everything you need to enrolment.
