Facilities for hands-on learning
The Social Work Skills Lab at our campus is a purpose-built space designed to simulate real-life situations, with mock interview rooms, seminar spaces and advanced recording equipment. The lab is designed to support practical skill development for students at all stages, enabling you to practise vital techniques in assessment, communication and supervision.
School of Life Sciences, Pharmacy and Chemistry
The School of Life Sciences, Chemistry and Pharmacy at Kingston University is made up of four departments: Applied and Human Sciences, Biomolecular Sciences, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacy.
Our focus is on innovative education and research, exploring everything from molecular biology to clinical pharmacy practice. Students gain hands-on experience in advanced laboratories with modern equipment. Get prepared for careers in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, forensic science, sports science and beyond.
Facilities and investments
Our school has recently invested £6.8 million to create state-of-the-art STEM facilities, providing students with access to leading-edge laboratories and equipment across a variety of fields, including:
- Biochemistry and Biotechnology – Modern labs with instruments for cellular and molecular biology research.
- Pharmacology and Pharmaceutics – Facilities designed for hands-on experience in drug synthesis and analysis.
- Forensic Science – Unique labs, such as a crime scene house and forensic analysis labs, supporting skills in DNA analysis and crime investigation.
- Sports and Exercise Science – Labs for biomechanics and environmental testing to support studies in physiology and athletic performance.
This department offers accredited degrees in Biological Science, Forensic Sciences, and Sport and Exercise Science. It has a range of specialist facilities, ranging from a crime-scene house to environmental chambers that can simulate altitude environments and adjust heat/humidity levels.
The Biomolecular Sciences department, home to popular courses like Biomedical Science (BSc Hons) and Biochemistry, prepares graduates for careers in pathology, research and the pharmaceutical industry. These courses are accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and the Royal Society of Biology.
With strong ties to health services and industry, the department offers Chemistry, Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Science degrees, many of which are accredited by organisations such as the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Academy of Pharmaceutical Science, and The Organisation for Professionals in Regulatory Affairs (TOPRA). Courses incorporate placements, offering practical experience essential for careers in pharmaceutical chemistry and analytical science.
The MPharm (Hons) course, accredited by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), offers students a patient-centred approach to pharmacy education, with high placement rates in hospital and community pharmacies. Students also have the option of an integrated five-year programme, including a preparatory year for those who meet alternative entry criteria.
School of Nursing, Allied and Public Health
As a leading provider of pre-registration nursing, we equip students to excel in London and beyond. You’ll receive a hands-on, responsive healthcare education shaped by students, employers and health experts.
Our research addresses primary care, long-term health, professional education, workforce innovation and patient advocacy. These research insights enhance our teaching and create positive learning experiences.
Our skills labs feature immersive simulations, video-audio tech and innovative role play, helping students gain confidence in essential nursing and healthcare techniques.
